When the door closes
who am I
when the blinds are closed
who am I
when the lights go off
who am I
when I close my eyes
who am I

into the darkness I travel
dreams or nightmares
waves of thoughts, colliding
this, that or other

comfortable

uneasy

afraid

excited

soothing

terrifying

beautiful

ugly

in your window
to the minds eye
sowing flowers
or weeds
amongst decorated planters
cracked
trellis of discolored clematis
wood frame rotting

in your window
what do you see
dust, smudges
unclarity
see through me

wiping my eyes
removing the crust

realized

sawing the wood
placing the nail
I firm the frame
epoxy to set

earth in fingernails
tilled and watered
feeding
love and care

washed and cleared
what I put before me
seeing, hearing, feeling
as I slumber
determined to me
no others

slowly, easily
stretching to the new dawn
feet to ground
squinted eyes to the east
blinds are lifted
clear reflection
colors vibrant
reaching to the sun
